President Sargsyan meets with São Paulo state governor and Armenian community

Within the framework of his official visit to Brazil, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan met in São Paulo with governor Geraldo Alckmin of the State of São Paulo, and representatives of the local Armenian community.

During his talk with Alckmin, Sargsyan underscored decentralized cooperation in terms of the development of Armenian-Brazilian state relations, and strengthening of friendship and mutual recognition of cultural values of the peoples of the two countries.

He also expressed the hope that mutual visits and contacts will give new impetus to Armenia-Brazil relations.

President Sargsyan also thanked Governor Alckmin and the São Paulo state authorities for officially recognizing the Armenian Genocide and erecting a monument to the victims of this tragedy.

The President of Armenia and the governor of the State of São Paulo discussed the avenues for the development of cooperation, and making full use of the respective existing potential.

At the end of the talk, Serzh Sargsyan signed the honorary guestbook of the São Paulo State Hall.

Subsequently, President Serzh Sargsyan and Governor Geraldo Alckmin met with the local Armenian community representatives, who had organized a reception at the state hall, in honor of the President of Armenia.

Sargsyan and Alckmin also delivered remarks at the event.

At the end of the reception, the President of Armenia awarded benefactor Hilda Dirouhi Burmaian, who is also Honorary Consul of Armenia in São Paulo and a prominent local Armenian community figure, the 1st Degree Medal in recognition of her services rendered to motherland Armenia.
