Monument in memory of Artsakh hero sparks frustration in Georgia

Memorial bust of Artsakh hero Mikayel Avagyan was unveiled on January 20 in Bughashen village of Georgia’s Samtskhe–Javakheti region. As the Facebook page of Armenian Embassy to Georgia reports, the opening ceremony of the bust was attended by Ambassador Ruben Sadoyan, diplomats, friends and relatives of the fallen soldier along with the authorities of the region and fellow villagers.

In his speech, Ambassador Sadoyan noted that throughout its history the Armenian nation achieved key victories thanks to numerous brave sons like Avagyan.

Meanwhile, Georgian apsny.ge news outlet writes that the opening of the memorial bust has caused frustration in Azerbaijani media outlets and among social media users. Georgian authorities have not commented on the event yet.
