New Vatican stamp depicts Pope Francis in front of Armenian Genocide Memorial

Vatican issued stamps last month commemorating the Pope’s 2016 trips. Designed by Daniela Longo, one the stamps depicts Pope Francis in front of the Armenian Genocide Memorialin Yerevan.

Pope Franics visited the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial on June 25, 2016 accompanied by Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan and Catholcios of All Armenians Karekin II.

Within the framework of a three-day visit to Armenia Pope Francis denounced the “ideologically twisted, planned genocide of Armenians starting in 1915.”

The stamp series commemorate the Pope’s 2016 trips to Mexico, Poland, Greece, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Sweden.
