New Armenian encyclopedia edition to be published

Armenia’s National Academy of Sciences has approved a project for publishing a new encyclopedia edition.

The Armenian Encyclopedia will comprise ten volumes, which will be available in both the digital and print formats. To compile the edition, specialists are expected to team up to discuss and arrange the preparation of items. The intended timeframe of the activities is ten years: from 2016 until 2026.

The Academy’s presidency is going to ask for a Government funding to make the publication possible.
The Academy’s earlier encyclopedia edition, the Soviet  Armenian Encyclopedia, was compiled in 1974-1987. Consisting of 12+1 volumes, it was considered a serious achievement in the history of the Armenian culture and publishing. The edition comprised items introducing the Armenian history, art, culture, social-political life, economy, sport, healthcare and important events in other spheres of human activity to the reader.
