Turkey will not accept EU’s report with decision on 1915 events

Turkey’s EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Volkan Bozkir said some provisions of the European Parliament’s annual progress report on Turkey are unacceptable to Ankara.

Among the provisions is European Parliament’s decision regarding the 1915 events, exclusion of PKK from the list of terrorist organizations, a call to freeze financial aid before Turkey’s accession to the EU.

Volkan Bozkir wrote a letter to EU officials informing about the provisions that would be unacceptable to the Turkish side.

The Minister also warned EU officials against “unilateral content” that may negatively affect talks on the settlement of Cyprus dispute.

As reported earlier, European Parliament has called on Ankara to recognize the Armenian Genocide and to ratify Armenia-Turkey protocols without preconditions with its resolution adopted on April 15.
